our Story

From Field to Fork since 2008.

Clavells Restaurant, founded in 2008, is nestled in the charming picture box village of Kimmeridge on the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. Set within a truly rural protected Area of Outstanding Beauty, Clavells has uninterrupted views of the rolling countryside and neighbouring farms.

Being part of a family that have farmed in the Purbecks since the 1950’s we are

passionate about offering delicious locally sourced food in a setting full of character and relaxed in style.

Our Ethos “From field to fork” is reflected in our menu. We pride ourselves in serving delicious home-made food using only the finest locally sourced ingredients and are proud to support many of Dorset’s wonderful food producers.

Our seasonal menu can be enjoyed in our restaurant or on our terrace and garden on fine afternoons. The day time menu is a comforting, relaxed and informal offering with an array of delicious homemade breakfasts, lunches and traditional afternoon teas as well as excellent wines and local beers.

What People Are Saying

“We had lunch at this lovely place a couple of days ago. We have been staying at a cottage in Lulworth and were looking for somewhere close to have a nice lunch. We both had the scampi for lunch and it was genuinely the best scampi either of us have tasted in a long time.”

“We stumbled across this place whilst visiting Kimmeridge Bay and must say that it was a stunning end to a lovely day. We sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed a lovely meal. The moules marinieres that I chose were the best I have had for a very long time, really fresh with a delicious sauce and fabulous crusty bread.”

“Went for a big walk and stopped here for lunch. Food was amazing, we had the seafood platter which was delicious. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the garden was looking great ( refurbished since our last visit) Highly recommended!”
